I started karate at the age of 11 in 1987. I was taught Shudo-Kan karate, an Okinawan art and received my Sho-dan ho (black belt) in January of 1995. As always the black belt was just a start and I continued to study karate as much as possible. After college I switched to Shito-Ryu Karate a Japanese art and received my Sho-dan on December 16th, 2000. I have continued my studies and received San-dan (3rd degree black belt) in 2003. I have learned many things from karate, but one of the key points is that I have learned is that there is soo much more for me to learn. With every step forward on my journey in Karate I get to see 3 more steps appear before me. That is what makes karate so much fun for me, there will always be something new to learn.
Nearly all my videos can be found on my Youtube.com channel, http://youtube.com/user/senseijohnnelson. Enjoy!
